Since 1998, Horacio Heinzen is Full Professor of Pharmacognosy; Natural Products atFacultad de Quimica, Universidad de la República Uruguay. He is also the director and founder of Grupo de Analisis de Contaminantes Traza (GACT), the first academic group for the analysis of trace contaminants in Uruguay. His main research interests are separation science, elucidation of natural products and metabolomics, analytical method development for trace organic contaminants in food and the environment, method validation and data treatment as well as applications of mass spectrometry. He has dictated 21 training courses on pesticide residue analysis and contaminants in the last 10 years. He is co-founder of Latin America Pesticide Residues Workshop (LAPRW) and, a member of the Crop Protection Committee of IUPAC.
