He was the previous head of the university’s Discipline of Hydraulic Engineering, and the National First-class Undergraduate Program of Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering. He is an accomplished hydrogeologist whose expertise spans variably saturated flow and transport, groundwater flow, surface water and groundwater interactions, soil water and agro-geology, water-saving irrigation and drainage, numerical modeling of groundwater, and water-soil pollution mitigation. Dr. Jin has led over 30 major projects in groundwater and the environment, including seven grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and one from the CGIAR-funded Challenge Program on Water and Food (CPWF 42). His scholarly contributions include authorship of 5 books and more than 200 peer-reviewed journal articles.
