Susan D. Richardson’s research focuses primarily on identifying new disinfection byproducts (DBPs) in drinking water, determining formation mechanisms, and integrating toxicological characterization with chemical characterization approaches. The overall goal of this research is to solve human health issues surrounding drinking water DBPs. She received the 2019 and 2020 Award of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and the 2020 Herty Medal in recognition of outstanding work and service by a chemist in the southeastern United States.
